Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 11, 2026

At On Notepad, accessible from onlinenotepad.org, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document outlines the types of information that is collected and recorded by On Notepad and how we use it.

Your Notes and Content

On Notepad is built on a client-side first architecture. This means:

  • All notes you write, format, or organize inside the editor are saved directly on your local device using your browser's internal local storage database (LocalStorage).
  • Your notes are never transmitted to our servers, nor are they accessible to any third parties.
  • We do not store, view, scan, or copy any of your text content, lists, titles, or settings.

Please note that because your notes are stored entirely in your browser's local storage, clearing your browser cache, deleting browser history, or using "private browsing/incognito" mode may wipe your stored notes. We highly recommend using the export options inside the toolbar to download regular backups of your text files.

Data Collection

We do not require account registration or sign-ups to use On Notepad. You can use all formatting and file features anonymously.

Log Files

Like most websites, On Notepad may collect standard server log files. These logs contain basic web server request details, including:

  • Internet Protocol (IP) addresses
  • Browser type and version
  • Internet Service Provider (ISP)
  • Date and time stamps
  • Referring/exit pages

This information is used strictly to analyze general traffic patterns, administer the website, and prevent spam or malicious access. None of this data is linked to any personally identifiable information.

Cookies

On Notepad uses functional cookies or browser storage variables solely to persist user interface preferences. Specifically:

  • Theme preference: To remember whether you selected dark mode or light mode.
  • Active note: To automatically reload the note you were working on during your last session.

Security of Your Data

Because your notes remain entirely on your own computer or mobile device, the security of your notes depends on the security of your device. We recommend securing your devices with passcodes and keeping your web browsers up to date to prevent unauthorized local access.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
